Andy Wilson • Jul 19, 2023

Burton Joyce football club held their annual presentation weekend 1st and 2nd July 2023 for all those involved in the football club, the weekend meant all our players, managers and volunteers could have plenty of fun to celebrate the clubs achievements over the last season at all levels and ages.

The weekend could not happen without all the help of our great community and volunteers including sponsors for the weekend so thanks to all involved.

As part of the presentation weekend the club provides opportunity for individual and team recognition and cups and awards are up for grabs the winners for this years annual presentation weekend are as follows

Rob Jovanovic – BJFC Coop Champion Community Award Winner - 2023

Rob has really poured his heart and soul not only into his role as Club Chair, but also as a manager at the club over many years. He is passionate about grassroots football, working through coaching with the school to create a link into football and starting our Girls section, a number of years ago.

Rob is a great individual, always willing to help and support volunteers within the club. Under his stewardship the club has increased it services to serve a diverse local community and young people and has created a fantastic environment for young people to thrive and grow in confidence.

Thanks to Rob for all his hard work over the years, and we can’t think of anyone more deserving of this award for their service to the club, and in affect the local Burton Joyce community

Jed was instrumental in the creation of BJFC when it was founded 32 years ago, and has seen it grow from a couple of teams with no home pitch to the large organisation that it's become today. He has been heavily involved over the years, holding various different roles and even though he stepped down from the Club a few years ago, he's never been able to let go and is regularly at the Poplars watching and supporting all the teams. Jed is massively respected, not only at BJFC, but also outside of the Club within the various leagues and governing bodies. And it's because of this love and respect for BJFC that the Club have this summer made him Honorary Life President, the first ever person to bestow such an honour. Jed received his award at the recent annual presentation weekend, and it was presented by Yvonne Wright, wife of the late David Wright who was also instrumental in the creation of BJFC alongside Jed.

Burton Joyce Football Club would like to say a huge thank you to the Coop and it's community members for the very generous donation of £3,624.61. We were grateful being chosen as one of three community partners for the last year and the benefits it has brought to our members. Here's some of our members showing their appreciation
